Almo publish paper shortage article
My thoughts on what is happening to the availability of A4 cut paper? It is obviously a complex issue as paper is a global commodity but I can't help thinking that we don't value paper highly enough in this country.
One of the key facts behind the current pressures on supply is that other countries are prepared to pay more per tonne than we are in the UK, what would you do if someone else is willing to pay considerable more for your products?
We buy paper in large quantities from the largest wholesaler in Europe and have been assured continuity of supply. What the shortage does mean is that we have to look after our existing customers first, those people that 'spot' buy their paper requirements could find themselves searching high and low for supplies.
One suggestion that we know would reduce consumption, and you could argue it doesn't help companies like Almo, is to switch to 'double-sided' printing, using two sides of paper makes complete sense but too few people do this. I found an interesting article about this the other day. Default to double-sided printing and copying
