The impact businesses have on the environment
Last year saw more column inches dedicated to these issues than ever before, a good thing, but...there is a downside. Less scrupulous companies saw this as an opportunity to increase their revenues with 'Eco' initiatives that have little or no worth to the overall cause.
Unfortunately, it's never too long until the cynics start cashing in and the term 'Greenwash' has now become commonplace in describing these unethical practices. However, it's important that this does not detract from the good work achieved by companies with a genuine 'Green Agenda.' Without my first piece becoming a 'soapbox' moment, lets get back to Almo's beliefs!
Through continual assessment, our ISO14001 accreditation and Carbon Neutral status pinpoint where to focus our resource, delivering 'tangible' benefits that result in a positive outcome for us, our clients and most importantly the environment itself.
One such example is this catalogue, we have 'offset' the Carbon of it's production, making it Carbon Neutral. Our newly designed boxes are reusable and we will now collect your old catalogues for recycling- so dig out your old ones and let us dispose of them properly! I would like to thank those of you who supported our 2008 promotions. Their success allowed us to sponsor an area of woodland in partnership with the 'Woodland Trust, with 25% of the profit
going to the charity to pay for this.
To sum up, there isn't enough space here to tell you how much we have done and the plans we have for the future. I think I need a blog (not another one!) Watch this space... perhaps our web developers will oblige in March when we launch our new site.
